The U.S. Army All-American Awards Dinner presented by the Rotary is the nation’s largest high school football awards dinner, with more than 1,300 attendees. The dinner features U.S. Army Leadership, high school rushing record-holder Ken Hall and other celebrity guests. This entertaining evening celebrates the achievements of the All-Americans and honors our Soldier Heroes returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

During the dinner, the U.S. Army Player of the Year is named and awarded the Ken Hall Trophy, and the Doc Blanchard and Glen Davis awards are presented. The dinner is presented by the Rotary Club of San Antonio, and all proceeds benefit the educational scholarships to the Club, including the Diploma Plus program.


 

 

U.S. Army Player of the Year Award (Ken Hall Trophy)
The U.S. Army Player of the Year Award is high school football’s highest honor. It is announced the Friday night before the U.S. Army All-American Bowl each year in San Antonio, Texas at the U.S. Army All-American Awards Dinner. The U.S. Army Bowl Selection Committee analyzes and nominates 16 athletes in November, and the six finalists are announced in early December. These athletes have demonstrated a commitment to excellence on the field and in their daily lives representing the same strengths and values demonstrated by Army Soldiers including loyalty, respect, honor, and integrity. The U.S. Army is proud to present the Ken Hall Trophy to the winner of this award.

Doc Blanchard Award and Glenn Davis Award
Felix “Doc” Blanchard, “Mr. Inside” and Glenn Davis, “Mr. Outside” starred in the Army backfield in the 1940s, and are considered college football’s greatest running back tandem. The Blanchard and Davis Awards are given to the two players who best exemplify the U.S. Army’s high standard of excellence in community service, education and athletic distinction. The Blanchard Award is given to a player from the Bowl’s East team, while the Davis Award is given to a player from the Bowl’s West team.

Herman Boone Trophy
The Boone Trophy is awarded to the Bowl’s winning team each year during the postgame ceremony. The award is named after high school coaching pioneer Herman Boone, who was immortalized in the movie “Remember the Titans.”

The Yoast Award is presented to the nation’s top high school football coach. The award is named after legendary coach Bill Yoast, who along with Coach Herman Boone was immortalized in the movie “Remember the Titans.”
